Ivy Terrace
Space Rental - Outside
In March of 2025 a critical sewage failure disrupted operations at Carnegie Hall, leaving the historic landmark without water for eleven days. Emergency pipe replacement was required to prevent further damage to the building’s infrastructure and allow safe use by staff, patrons, and artists. The excavation ran beneath the Ivy Terrace. With the help of local architects and engineers who have generously volunteered their expertise, we’ve created a plan that improves accessibility, strengthens the structure, and expands the space for larger community gatherings. The project includes grading the lawn, adding a direct kitchen entrance for caterers and renters, rerouting ADA‑compliant ramps and walkways, expanding first‑floor restrooms, installing new retaining walls, enlarging space for rental tents, and rebuilding the terrace surface. Restoring the Ivy Terrace will bring back one of Lewisburg’s most beloved outdoor spaces - ready to safely host public events, performances, and the steady flow of community life. The new kitchen entrance will also support the rich culinary and heritage programming that happens inside. From salt‑rising bread and herbal foraging to traditional sausage‑making and Kids in the Kitchen during Kids’ College, these classes connect people of all ages to Appalachian traditions. The improved layout will make the kitchen more accessible and functional for the teaching artists and participants who bring these programs to life.
