RAKU TRAVELING KILN PROGRAM

Raku; noun

: Japanese hand-modeled pottery that is fired at a low temperature and rapidly cooled
: a process by which pottery is fired at a relatively low temperature and then moved while hot to a closed container with combustible materials (such as paper or sawdust) that ignite and cause a reaction creating colors and patterns in the pottery's surface
: pottery produced using this process

Carnegie Hall is pleased to offer a new one-of-a-kind clay workshop for special events and live demonstrations. Our new Raku traveling kiln is a dynamic and exciting experience for the classroom! An experienced Teaching Artist will perform a live firing as a cultural arts demonstration, or tailor the event for a more hands-on workshop opportunity.

Participants have the option of creating their own clay bodies in a guided workshop so that they can later be glazed and fired live in the Raku kiln at your location.

EVERY PIECE IS UNIQUE · CREATING LIVE ART · PERFECT FOR GROUPS/SPECIAL EVENTS
